Chief's Corner

The LaGrange Police Department works very hard to maintain a community oriented policing style, while at the same time staying ahead of criminal activity.  We are proud to maintain a relatively low crime rate, due to the hard work the officers dedicate every day they come to work.

Several factors go into achieving a safe environment for those who live and travel through LaGrange. First, as mentioned before, a hard-working staff, who feel strongly about what they are trying to accomplish, which is, the protection of public safety and property.  Second, maintaining a high level of community confidence with our police agency.  I feel that the citizens must know the goals we are trying to accomplish for us to have any hope of achieving them.  Without the communities help and confidence, we know that making LaGrange a safe place to work, live, and visit would be much more difficult and unnecessary.  Third, we strive to work with other agencies in the area to develop patterns in criminal activity.  Criminals, unlike law enforcement, do not have jurisdictions; therefore, it is imperative that we have a positive working relationship with other police agencies. This can only be accomplished with an open line of communication and information sharing.

Although crime is on our mind everyday, we are proud of the fact that for the majority of our residents, crime is a secondary thought.  We are glad that we are part of this community, and we do the best job we can to make it a safe place for everyone.
